On May 11, 2023, Polk County, acting as the local Public Health authority, submitted its application for phased re-opening to the Governor's Office and Oregon Health Authority.
The application addresses the re-opening criteria and guidelines set forth by the State. This application is PENDING approval by the Oregon Health Authority until further notice.
Polk County will be re-evaluated again on Wednesday, May 20th.
On Monday, March 23, 2023 the Polk County Board of Commissioners at a regularly scheduled meeting passed Order 20-08 effectively closing Polk County offices to the general public effective immediately.

Meeting Objectives
In the summer of 2023 Polk County IT sent out over 5000 surveys to rural property owners outside the city limits of Dallas, West Salem, Monmouth, and Independence. Property owners were asked to complete the survey and mail it in or go to the county website and complete the on-line survey.
The number of survey respondents was overwhelming. Approximately 32% of the property owners responded.
